Update to the RFI Process – Did you Know
Request for Information (RFI) process is designed to assist with correcting inaccurate and/or missing information submitted on enrollment applications; and agents are permitted to resolve on behalf of the beneficiary. To ensure your beneficiary has timely coverage, please call the WellCare RFI line 877-677-5609 and provide the requested information. Helpful Tip! Beneficiaries do not need to be present on the call in order to resolve the outstanding RFI!
Please be prepared to provide the following information when calling the RFI line:
- Beneficiary MBI
- Agent ID
- Beneficiary first/last name
- Beneficiary DOB
MBI Requirement on Applications
As a reminder, the former HICN is no longer used to identify Medicare beneficiaries. When completing an application, please ensure the Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) is clearly listed as the “Medicare Number” at the bottom of page 1 on the 2019 enrollment application.
Further, please do not list other specific beneficiary information in place of the MBI on the application (i.e. SSN, etc.).
Important! Applications submitted without an MBI will not process and move into a pending RFI status, delaying coverage for the beneficiary.
Note: Enrollment is continuing to accept HICNs on enrollment applications through PY 2019, however it is preferred the MBI is used. Come 2020 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) when applications are being written for January 1 effectives the MBI must be used to process the application.
Discontinued Electronic Application Submission Verification Call Requirement
As a reminder, electronic application verification is no longer required, and the ePAV line has been turned off.
In effort to avoid errors made on the application, please ensure you are reviewing all information listed on the application before submitting.
