UPMC Dental Advantage PPE coverage during COVID-19
This communication has been sent to all Dental Advantage employer group contacts.
UPMC Health Plan is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation and has made policy changes to ensure members have access to care during this challenging time—including dental care.
At the recommendation of the American Dental Association, dental professionals have begun to use more personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves and their patients from COVID-19. In light of this change, UPMC Dental Advantage will cover PPE as an enhanced member benefit when members receive dental care from a participating provider. Coverage is limited to once per member visit during the PPE coverage period.
Participating UPMC Dental Advantage providers cannot charge members for PPE during the PPE coverage period; however, members may be charged if they receive services from a non-participating provider.*
