The Pennsylvania Department of Insurance has authorized In-Person Sales to resume – under certain conditions – in counties that are moving to the Yellow Phase. Telework and remote operations must continue where feasible in counties that have been designated to move to the Yellow Phase, however – in instances where that is not feasible – insurance licensees will be permitted to resume in-person operations. Licensees must adhere to the guidance, building safety and business safety orders issued by Governor Tom Wolf that details procedures businesses must follow to conduct in-person operations in counties slated to move to the yellow phase of reopening. Trump made the announcement after media reports last week suggested Attorney General William Barr urged the White House to change its position on the lawsuit and seek to preserve parts of the ACA in light of the country’s coronavirus epidemic. The Justice Department had a Wednesday deadline to change its position in a case brought by Republican-led states. A coalition of Democratic state attorneys general and the Democratic-led House of Representatives are defending the law in court. COVID-19 Testing Update As state and municipal authorities and employers of all types begin considering options for opening the economy, testing remains a pivotal issue. Diagnostic test of COVID-19 infection – This test is done with a nasal swab. While this test continues to become more widely available, it remains limited in our region and throughout most of the country. This is due to multiple reasons, including that some of the materials needed to collect the specimen and process the test remain in short supply. UPMC Health Plan Coverage Enhancements in response to the CARES Act To provide the health care resources needed to address COVID-19, UPMC Health Plan will include the following coverage enhancements for commercial accounts in accordance with the recently enacted CARES Act. The following coverage enhancements apply to fully insured and administrative services only (ASO) plans retroactive to March 1, 2020. Member cost share will be waived at in or out-of-network providers for: Diagnostic testing for suspicion of/exposure to/confirmation of COVID- 19. Also included are serological antibody tests.* Telehealth including AnywhereCare for suspicion of/exposure to/confirmation of COVID-19.
